“Penelope knows by now … / the earth isn’t flat / and men sometimes get lost” Chloe Koutsoumbeli (trans. A.E. Stallings)

i must
this liquid game be
cause i’m playing again
stomach i remember

body hello i
down here
on vacation

its my baby
those perfect teeth
ignored bull you
want to

perfect teeth
wouldn’t want to
the  baby to ruin

you wouldn’t want to sleep
i can party
soluble carbohydrates
a handmade moser crystal
old-fashioned glass

the baby
at ruin
those perfect teeth
you wouldn’t want

“To keep silent and act wise—still not as good as drinking sake, getting drunk and weeping” Ōtomo no Tabito

attached via ligaments
the helmsman who
helped your mother
into her tail for centuries

pairs off domestic pigeons
to brake and steer men
with vast attachments
to long lost lovers

lynch does the same
packing each scene
with centuries of fat and muscle
which formerly surrounded buried bones

the helmsman has rectrices
and is absent from the song’s brief, luminous life

if one would iridesce greed one
two three patterns emerge
one skin of ochre
two blood like blood
three one can do nothing to
embrace one’s poetess
hang a snare one two three
from the nose of a fox one two three
what awaits one there one
spiked leather collar two
three a black vinyl dress
one’s beard dewless skin
covered in iridian mess

“On the wall is a spot: the painter sneezed / … or dirt, / or is it a cousin back from the dead / yearning to touch brows. / The spot is not monochrome; red is with that gray. / It is … a cell beset by virus. / Really, I don’t know. So much business thins me out. / And now voices approach: they are spheres, textured.” Kleinzahler

wikipedia poem, no. 13

i was there beside you, warm
but it wasn’t enough, something warm
pulling apart my skin
there, they fell
like paint peeling off store-bought canvas
they fell
we fell
and now they stand, broken—bottled—in opposition to something fallen and warm
for themselves, only, for
what else is there but life? a hat, cracking concrete, drinking the fountain of
these fonts, so righteous, standing back to back like crimefighters
guns drawn, guns drawn,
	guns drawn against the sunrise.
